Renmin University of China welcomes all international students to apply for our Master programs in English.

Renmin University of China (RUC, also known as the People's University of China) is a key comprehensive and research-orientated university in China. It is one of the earliest colleges and universities in China that established Graduate Schools, and is the most prestigious university in the humanities and social sciences in China.

At present, with the idea of building a world class university, focusing on humanities and social sciences with elite natural sciences & engineering as supplement, RUC is devoted to making students "outstanding exemplars of the country, and the backbone of the society", cultivating talents well adapted to the 21st century.

According to the Ministry of Education’s appraisal release of 2009, 7 disciplines of the university, namely Applied Economics, Theoretical Economics, Law, Political Science, Sociology, Journalism & Communication and Marxism Studies were ranked No.1 nationwide, Philosophy and Library Information and Archive Management No.2 and Business Administration No.3. These remarkable data has once again proved the leadership of Renmin in humanities and social sciences of Chinese higher education.

As predominant disciplines of RUC, those programs will provide worldwide students with excellent opportunities to learn more about Chinese politics, economics and culture. Meanwhile, all programs provide scholarships with overall coverage as high as 80%!

1.    Eligibility

Applicants should have obtained a bachelor degree or above

2.    Application Procedure

    1)    Complete the online Application for admission at pgs.ruc.edu.cn

    2)    Application period: September 10, 2010 – May 31, 2011

    3)    Procedure:

        a)    Complete Online Application on the website of the Graduate School, RUC (click “Online Application for Master Programs in English” on http:// pgs.ruc.edu.cn to register) within required time.

        b)    Download the application form after successfully submit personal information online. Use A4 paper to print Application Form for Master Programs in English. Please note that some information needs to be filled in manually.

        c)    Application Materials

            i.     Application Form for Master Programs in English at RUC;

            ii.    Original Academic Transcripts and Diploma. (Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by Chinese or English translations) ;

            iii.    Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by associate professors or professors;

            iv.    Four recent 2-inch photos (in white or blue background ) ;

            v.    One photocopy of the passport;

            vi.   Sample copies of published academic articles, awards or other research outputs;

            vii.   A Personal Statement indicating education and working experience, research achievements, plans and personal development objectives after graduation;

            viii.  Others: Please do check brochures of each program for their specific requirements.

    4)    Qualification Review

All application materials should be sent to the International Students Office of RUC on working days for review. You can choose to :

        a)    Directly bring the application materials to the International Students Office of RUC( only on working days);

        b)    Or: Compile or scan all application materials and email to rmdxlb@ruc.edu.cn;

        c)    Or: Post mail all application materials to the International Students Office:

                     Application materials that passed qualification review will then be forwarded to the Graduate Admission Office, RUC

    5)    Payment of Application Fees

     Applicants should pay non-refundable application fee of RMB600 before taking the interview through following ways:

        a)    Pay cash to the Office of Graduate Admission.

        b)    Or: Remit the fee to the University:

      In the remittance note please clearly indicate the following information:

            i.     Your name

            ii.    The school you are applying for

            iii.    Purpose of remittance: “Application Fee for Master Programs in English”.

3.    Interview

Applicants will attend a specialized comprehensive interview in English organized by relevant schools. Please contact each school for further information.

4.    Admission

The graduate adviser will provide opinions on the applicant’s performance and cultivation potential based on application materials and interview results. Then the Admission Committee of each school will make decision about the acceptance. The final admission roster will be approved by the Admission Committee of the University.

The International Students Office will send the admission letter, instructions for registration, as well as necessary materials for visa application and room reservation to the  acceptee. Generally we will send the materials mentioned above to your address that have previously been signed in the application form. If the acceptee is in Beijing, (s) he may pick up the package directly from the International Students Office.

5. Enrollment

Upon acceptance, all applicants should register and pay the tuition in the International Students Office of RUC in required time,,

All programs provide scholarship. Please contact relevant schools for further information.

6. Program Duration: two years

7. Certificates of degree and diploma will be awarded to those who have completed the entire cultivation plan in required time.
