Prof. DU Peng was born in April 1963. He holds a PhD in Law and is a member of the Communist Party of China. DU is the Vice President of RUC and he also serves concurrently as the Vice President of the Chinese Population Society, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Vice President of the Beijing Municipal Society of Higher Education, Member of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and Chairman of the China-Europe Humanities and Arts Education Alliance.
His main research areas are aging population, policy on aging issues, population and development. He has published monographs including Research on the Process of Population Ageing in China, Ageing Problems and Ageing Policies in the European Union Countries, etc., and edited monographs such as Retrospect and Prospect: A Study on the Pensioning Methods of the Elderly in China, The Ageing Society and the Harmonious Society, Research on Disabled Persons in Rural Areas of China and Their Social Security, and the Translation Series of Contemporary Gerontological Masterpieces. He has been selected as a candidate of the "Hundred Talents Project for Social Science Theoretical Talents"in Beijing, a candidate of the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program", a national-level candidate of the Ministry of Personnel and other six ministries for the "Hundred Million Talents Project for the New Century", and a candidate of the State Council's "Hundred Million Talents Project".
