Renmin University of China (RUC) officially launched its 2025 International Summer School on June 30. The program unites more than 190 faculty members from over 20 countries and regions to deliver courses and lectures, and over 3,000 students from nearly 30 countries and regions joined the program.

Zhi Xiaoqiang, vice-president of RUC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address. In his remarks, Zhi noted that the International Summer School serves as a dynamic platform for young scholars from diverse backgrounds to engage in intellectual exchange through academic dialogue and to deepen mutual understanding through cultural interaction. He emphasized the program's cultural diversity as a key asset and noted that the combination of cutting-edge academic courses and extracurricular activities will provide the students with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.

Chloe Starr, a Yale University professor, said the program plays an important role in building a cross-cultural learning community. She stressed the importance of transcending cognitive boundaries through diversity and fostering growth through questioning and inclusiveness. In an era of increasing digital alienation, she encouraged participants to value genuine interaction, avoid academic shortcuts, and pursue intellectual innovation through sincere experimentation and reflection.
Founded in 2009, the RUC International Summer School marks its 16th edition this year. To date, the program has offered more than 1,800 courses, engaging over 1,900 faculty members from both Chinese and international universities, more than 45,000 RUC students, and over 5,500 students from other institutions.
