On Aug 23, more than 3,000 students of the Class of 2025 gathered at Renmin University of China (RUC) to complete their registration procedures and begin a new chapter in their academic journey.
Zhang Donggang, secretary of CPC RUC Committee, and Lin Shangli, president of the university, visited Mingde Square, the main registration site for new students. They interacted with the incoming students and their families, welcoming them to the RUC community and expressing appreciation for the faculty members and student volunteers involved in orientation services.
Zhang Donggang stated that RUC, as one of the first new-type universities founded by the Communist Party of China, has always shared a common destiny with the Party and the nation, advancing in step with national progress and rejuvenation.
He encouraged the new students to cultivate a strong sense of patriotism, strengthen their character and resilience, and enter university life with a confident mindset. He also encouraged them to actively adapt to technological transformations in higher education in the digital and intelligent era, striving to become well-rounded individuals who are innovative and ready to put ideas into practice.
Lin Shangli welcomed the new students to the university and was hopeful that they would carry forward the university's red legacy, work diligently, and pursue progress with initiative, embracing the boundless possibilities of the future.
He noted that the university will provide solid support for each student's all-round development through a diverse, multidimensional system for the independent cultivation of top innovative talent, along with a comprehensive service and support framework.
In recent years, the university has continued to strengthen the core quality of undergraduate education, with the overall caliber of incoming students steadily improving. Admission scores for humanities and social sciences programs under equal-quota provincial plans have consistently ranked among the top three nationwide, reflecting RUC's enduring academic strengths and appeal.
