The Tongzhou Campus of Renmin University of China (RUC) entered the final countdown to its full and official operation. In 10 days, 28 teaching and academic units will formally move in, and more than 4,000 incoming master's students from the Class of 2025 will report to campus.
As the only national key university in the core area of Beijing's sub-center, the Tongzhou Campus serves as a new hub for advancing integrated reforms in education, science and talent development, and for cultivating top innovative talent.
"The full launch of the Tongzhou Campus marks a new stage in which we leverage new space to drive the university's development and elevate our overall educational framework," said Zhang Donggang, secretary of CPC RUC Committee. "It also signifies that the university's development has entered a fast lane and a critical period for progress and innovation".
The university has taken measures to ensure the orderly and efficient operation of the Tongzhou Campus and the smooth and stable enrollment of the first cohort of students.
Over the past year, RUC has collected feedback and suggestions from faculty and students, organized 33 forums, discussions, and needs-assessment activities, and released timely Q&A updates and relevant information about the campus. It has also developed a three-year campus utilization plan, with detailed coordination mechanisms covering construction, management, and use.
Since Aug 11, the Tongzhou Campus has entered a full-factor operational testing phase. The 28 teaching units set to move in, along with more than 20 participating departments and organizations, have coordinated staffing and work arrangements to carry out related tasks on site.
In the fall semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, the Tongzhou Campus will offer 944 courses. The university will promote a student-centered knowledge training system from five dimensions: smart teaching, space utilization, mentoring relationships, practice-based learning, and training reform.
