
On Aug 30, Renmin University of China (RUC) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a collaboration workshop at the Shenzhen Research Institute of RUC. RUC President Lin Shangli, and HKUST Chief Vice-president Guo Yike, attended the event.
The first discussion group included representatives from RUC's School of History, School of Sociology, School of Public Administration, and the Shenzhen Research Institute, along with their HKUST counterparts. They explored joint student training programs, collaborative research funding applications, student exchange and field study activities, and university–industry partnerships.
Led by Lin Shangli and Guo Yike, the second discussion group featured representatives from RUC's School of Ecology and Environment, School of Information, Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Smart Governance, and corresponding departments at HKUST. Discussions focused on talent cultivation and scientific research, with consensus reached on cooperation in areas such as foreign-related rule of law, public policy, innovation and entrepreneurship, and multi-campus collaboration. The third discussion group comprised representatives from RUC’s School of Labor and Human Resources, School of Applied Economics, Business School, and their HKUST counterparts. In-depth discussions were held on joint postgraduate training, co-hosting academic conferences, and visiting scholar programs in fields like human resource management, business administration, and economics and finance.
During the concluding session, Lin Shangli noted that both RUC and HKUST share a common mission to cultivate innovative, interdisciplinary, and application-oriented top talent, as well as a shared responsibility to serve national strategies and contribute wisdom to global governance.
The workshop aims to further expand exchanges and cooperation between RUC and universities in Hong Kong, promote the establishment of a strategic partnership with HKUST.
