
Renmin University of China (RUC) held the opening ceremony for the Class of 2025 at its Suzhou Campus on Sept 13. A total of 1,770 students took part in the ceremony, including 432 undergraduates, 274 master's students, 27 doctoral students, 49 international students, and 988 students from the affiliated high school.

President Lin Shangli noted that the Suzhou Campus is one of the university's six residential colleges, serving as a hub for international perspective, humanistic depth, and innovative thinking. He encouraged students to embrace the richness of human civilization and broaden their horizons and cultivate an open and inclusive mindset on this international platform
Wang Du, consul general of France in Shanghai, praised the achievements of the Suzhou Campus and expressed strong support for the French-language programs d at the RUC Affiliated High School Suzhou Campus. He noted the significant of this year, as China–France diplomatic relations enter a new 60-year cycle and China–EU relations celebrate their 50th anniversary. Amid rapid technological advances such as AI, society urgently needs interdisciplinary talent with foundations in the humanities and social sciences, foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural communication skills, and critical thinking. He encouraged students to shape the future through talent and diligence, contribute to a peaceful and just world, and actively promote China–France exchange and friendship.
Tao Yi, a first-year undergraduate majoring in Human Resource Management at the Law School, spoke on behalf of new students. She expressed her inspiration from the Suzhou Campus's vibrant diversity—from its integrated Eastern and Western curricula and globally experienced faculty to its open and inclusive academic atmosphere—where every voice is heard, every passion is respected, and every dream can grow.
