Beijing hosts 3rd Annual Conference of Chinese Financial Studies

From Sep 13 to 14, the 3rd Annual Conference of Chinese Financial Studies (2025) was held in Beijing, jointly hosted by Renmin University of China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).

The conference featured a prelude forum, the Third Council Meeting of the Alliance for the Independent Knowledge System of Chinese Financial Studies, an opening forum, and six thematic forums.

Presidents and deans of finance schools, leading scholars, and representatives of mid-career and young scholars from universities across China engaged in extensive discussions. Lin Shangli, president of RUC, said that amid profound changes in the global competitive landscape, technology has become a powerful engine driving the high-quality development of the financial sector, a key force in enhancing the effectiveness of financial services, and a critical factor shaping the future of finance.

RUC is actively exploring ways to promote deep integration among science and technology, talent development, and finance, contributing to the development of economics education in China and the construction of an independent knowledge system for Chinese financial studies, he added.

On Sept 14, six thematic forums were held. More than 100 experts and young scholars from across the country participated in discussions centered on six key themes: AI and financial technology innovation; financial regulation and risk management; financial market microstructure and capital market reform; green finance and sustainable development strategies; financial services for the real economy and consumption-driven growth; and monetary policy, financial opening-up, and international competitiveness.

The Annual Conference of Chinese Financial Studies (ACCFS) was first launched in 2023. At the inaugural conference, the School of Finance of RUC took the lead in proposing the establishment of the Alliance for the Independent Knowledge System of Chinese Financial Studies, which now  gathers more than 100 universities nationwide that are authorized to offer master’s degrees in finance, including professional degree programs.
