The origin of RUC can be traced back to the year 1937 when the Shaanbei Public School was established.
Located in China's capital Beijing, RUC has witnessed and empowered the country's efforts to survive and thrive.
Following the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, RUC has continued to provide a large galaxy of professionally trained people to the society. As one of the trailblazers for higher education in China, RUC is the first Chinese university to grant the doctorate degree in Journalism and Jurisprudence.
Later, the country's first doctoral degree holders in Political Economy, World Economy, Monetary Banking, Statistics, among others, received their degrees from RUC. The first doctoral degree in the humanities awarded to a foreign student was also granted by RUC.
Now after over 85 years, more than 400,000 RUC graduates have gone on to work in various fields both in China and abroad, earning RUC a great reputation as the cradle of outstanding talents. So far, the university has educated many political elites, supreme-court justices, literary figures, and business executives, among other notable intellectual figures.
As one of the few Chinese universities with the brightest minds and a distinguished academic environment, RUC is bound to make even greater achievements in the days to come.
