RUC releases its first global index

The "RUC Index" release conference was held on Sep 26, marking the launch of two major reports: the China Agricultural Investment Climate Index Research Report and the Global South "Energy Trilemma" Index Report—A Guide for Chinese Energy Companies Going Global. This is the first time that Renmin University of China (RUC) has released a global index.

Zheng Xinye, vice president of RUC, stated that the development and publication of the RUC Index aim to help individuals, families, enterprises, and governments understand new trends, characteristics, and underlying patterns of development, and to provide low-cost and replicable solutions to global development challenges.

He emphasized that RUC will uphold a long-term, persistent research approach, improve research content, respond to social concerns, and help reduce uncertainty in decision-making.

The China Agricultural Investment Climate Index Research Report was jointly developed by the School of Applied Economics at RUC and the Engineering Construction Service Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Based on official statistical data from the first quarter of 2016 to the third quarter of 2025, the research team applied the entropy method and time-lag correlation analysis to construct the agricultural investment climate index and its indicator system. The index enables dynamic monitoring and forward-looking analysis of agricultural investment trends, helping guide investment direction, optimize investment structure, enhance the confidence of social and financial capital in agricultural investment, and expand investment space.

The Global South "Energy Trilemma" Index Report—A Guide for Chinese Energy Companies Going Global, developed by the School of Applied Economics at RUC and the Global Energy Strategy Research Center, is the first global index in the "RUC Index" series. It provides systematic analytical tools and practical guidance for Chinese energy enterprises expanding into international markets, particularly in Global South countries.
