RUC's delegation visits Hungary, Slovenia, and Montenegro

To further expand and deepen Renmin University of China's exchanges and cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, from September 18 to 26, Zheng Shuiquan, vice president of RUC, led a delegation to Hungary, Slovenia, and Montenegro.

The delegation visited several leading local universities, attended the working meeting of the China–Hungary Research Center for Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning, and visited the Budapest Chinese Cultural Center  and the Chinese embassies in Hungary, Slovenia, and Montenegro.

While in Hungary, they visited Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and held talks with Vice President Gábor Zeplén. Zheng Shuiquan expressed his appreciation for ELTE's support for the establishment and operation of the China–Hungary Research Center for Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning. The two parties discussed expanding cooperation under the framework of the center, deepening collaboration in fields such as regional and country studies, economics, and civilization studies, and strengthening youth exchanges between China and Hungary.

At Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, the delegation met with President Bruno von Pottelsberg and Vice President for Academic Affairs Lajos György Szabó. Building on existing cooperation, both sides held pragmatic discussions on further developing branded joint talent cultivation programs, enhancing academic exchange mechanisms, and establishing multi-level cooperation platforms, with the aim of achieving higher-level synergy in talent training, scientific research, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Whilst in Slovenia, they visited the University of Ljubljana and met with Vice President for International Affairs Boštjan Markelj. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on consolidating their partnership and promoting more substantive cooperation at the levels of schools, faculty, and students. They agreed to leverage their respective strengths in economics, agriculture and rural development, artificial intelligence, Belt and Road and Central and Eastern Europe studies, and civilizational exchange and mutual learning.
