RUC Party Secretary Zhang Donggang leads delegation to Ireland and UK

From November 9 to 16, Zhang Donggang, Party secretary of Renmin University of China (RUC), led a delegation to Ireland and the UK. 

This visit aimed to bolster educational development and international openness, focusing on discussing about humanity's future. 

It achieved significant consensus and practical progress in establishing collaborative research centers for cultural exchange, expanding youth research on China studies, and deepening the cultivation of interdisciplinary innovative talents.

On November 11, Zhang met with the president of University College Dublin.

On November 12, he visited the University of Glasgow, meeting its president, presenting three versions of Chinese translation of The Wealth of Nations by Yan Fu, Jia Yongmin, and Yang Jingnian.

On November 13, Zhang met with the vice-president of the University of Manchester.

On November 14, he met with the vice-president of the University of Cambridge.

At the Marxism and the Contemporary World Symposium held by the University of Salford, Manchester on November 13, Zhang delivered a keynote speech titled "Chinese Modernization Creates a New Form of Human Civilization". Attendees included representatives from several UK universities. Zhang highlighted Chinese modernization as a significant adaptation of Marxism, unifying various aspects of civilization and offering a model for global development.

Participants noted that Chinese modernization supports China's stable development and provides new solutions for developing countries. It also contributes to adapting Marxism to contemporary needs and enhancing global governance.

On November 10, an exhibition of traditional Chinese family letters opened in Dublin, co-hosted by RUC's Family Letter Museum and the Confucius Institute at University College Dublin. The exhibition aims to strengthen the Sino-Irish strategic partnership through cultural exchange, showcasing the unique charm of Chinese family letter culture. Zhang attended and spoke at the event.

RUC has fostered extensive cooperation with UK and Irish universities in talent cultivation, research, and cultural exchange. The delegation included representatives from RUC's various departments.
