Zhan Jing is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Governance and Policy Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her main research areas include comparative political economy, contemporary Chinese politics, intergovernmental relations, local governance and development. Her current research focuses on the political economy of mineral resource development and management.
She has published dozens of research articles in leading international journals, including The China Quarterly, Journal of Contemporary China, Environmental and Resource Economics, Geopolitics, and Policy Studies Journal, and has contributed to the compilation of several academic volumes.
Her monograph China's Contained Resource Curse: How Minerals Shape State–Capital–Labor Relations was published by Cambridge University Press in 2022 and reissued in 2024. Her research on China’s mineral resources has also been awarded the Research Excellence Award by The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
