On December 14, the Financial Powerhouse RUCtime–Pujiang Finance Forum was held at Renmin University of China's Suzhou Campus.
Hosted by RUC, the forum was co-organized by the Pujiang Finance Forum Council, the RUC Alumni Association, the RUC Education Foundation, the RUC Suzhou Campus and the Yangtze River Delta Institute of Finance.
Under the theme "Technological finance innovation and deepening financial services", the forum gathered over 500 participants from government, industry, academia, research and investment communities to explore pathways toward building a financial powerhouse and strengthening financial support for the high-quality economic development.
Ma Huaide, president of RUC, and Gu Haidong, Suzhou's executive vice-mayor, attended the forum and delivered remarks.
President Ma noted that leveraging the Suzhou Campus' strengths in interdisciplinary integration and artificial intelligence would help advance the development of a financial powerhouse and share China's financial governance approaches with the international community. He called for theoretical innovation to guide financial development, collaborative innovation to upgrade financial services and accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and greater openness to expand the space for financial development. These efforts would provide intellectual support for the Yangtze River Delta to develop into a dual-circulation financial hub and to participate more actively in global financial governance.
Vice-Mayor Gu highlighted Suzhou's commitment to supporting the real economy through finance by promoting the deep integration of technology and finance, advancing key reforms such as international cooperation zones for technological finance and pilot programs for digital finance, and fostering a sound business environment. He emphasized Suzhou's readiness to work with all stakeholders, contributing local expertise and regional experience to the development of a financial powerhouse.
At the forum, the report "Vision 2050 for a financial powerhouse: China and the world" was released, offering forward-looking theoretical insights. Parallel forums explored how financial innovation can better support technological innovation through institutional design and market practice, optimize financial services and enhance their implementation. They also discussed theoretical innovation in technological finance and equity investment, focusing on integrating theory and practice.
Initiated by RUC alumni in the financial sector in Shanghai in 2008, the Pujiang Finance Forum has grown into a widely influential brand event. Along with the Yanshan Forum and the Central Forum, it forms the Financial Powerhouse RUCtime platform matrix, linking Beijing, the Yangtze River Delta, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the global community, and serving as an important bridge connecting policy, theory and industrial practice.
