Established in 1854, the University College Dublin (UCD) is Ireland's leading university. The UCD Confucius Institute, co-founded in 2006 by UCD and RUC, was the first Confucius Institute in Ireland and remains the only one in the country. It is also one of the earliest Model Confucius Institutes globally. The institute plays a distinctive role in promoting friendly relations and cultural exchange between China and Ireland.
