Mission and Vision
The Global Opinion Research Center at Renmin University of China integrates research, policy consultation, social services, and teaching into a comprehensive platform. The center aims to build a world-class global public opinion research agency and inform international communication research. Since June 2022, it has designed and implemented over 60 global opinion surveys.

The center adopts an international perspective, benchmarking against leading global surveys while partnering with prominent polling firms, media organizations, and academic institutions worldwide. It maintains rigorous professional standards across sampling, research design, data analysis, data management, and publication.

The center's core team brings expertise in international communication, international relations, statistics, and computational communication. With extensive experience in questionnaire design and advanced capabilities in statistical analysis, data mining, and visualization, the team delivers multi-dimensional insights with precision and depth.
The center benefits from Renmin University's interdisciplinary strengths. As a leading institution in humanities and social sciences, the university boasts 11 top-tier disciplines and 14 “world-class programs,” providing robust cross-disciplinary support for innovative global polling initiatives.

Leveraging its internationally trained, interdisciplinary team, the center explores cutting-edge polling methodologies. This includes using generative AI for rapid questionnaire development and optimizing analysis of unstructured opinion data. The center also integrates traditional survey data with social media sentiment analysis, developing innovative analytical approaches that provide richer insights for government agencies and organizations.
International Communication Expertise
The center's core team members hold degrees from Stanford University, Boston University, Michigan State University, Syracuse University, University of Iowa, and National University of Singapore. Team members have worked at Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, and CCTV's English channels, bringing substantial practical experience in international communication.
Diverse Global Data Coverage: Over 150 Countries
The center's data collection spans more than 150 countries and regions, capturing truly diverse perspectives. Unlike many global polls that focus primarily on Western respondents, the center emphasizes broad geographic representation across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Since its establishment, the center has sampled populations in over 80 countries, conducting surveys in nearly 30 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Malay, Dari, Pashto, Vietnamese, Hungarian, Khmer, and Burmese.
Beyond developed nations like the United States, United Kingdom, and France, the center surveys populations in Zambia, Ethiopia, Botswana, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Iran, and Uzbekistan—voices often overlooked by Western research institutions.
