On Dec 11, the Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals (2025) was officially released. Jointly developed by CNKI and the Tsinghua University Library, the report unveiled the 2025 selections for "China's Most Influential International Academic Journals" and "China's Outstanding International Influence Academic Journals".
Renmin University of China (RUC) received recognition with three of its sponsored journals featured on the lists: The English journal Economic and Political Studies was honored as a "2025 China's Most Influential International Academic Journal" in the Humanities & Social Sciences (English) category. This marks the fourth time the journal has received this distinction. The Chinese journals Population Research and Economic Theory and Business Management were both recognized as "2025 China's Outstanding International Influence Academic Journal" in the Humanities & Social Sciences (Chinese) category.
The report evaluated the international citation impact of 7,240 Chinese academic journals. Its statistical analysis draws from a source database of 27,117 journals, encompassing the majority of publications indexed by four leading international databases: Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Engineering Index (EI), and Medline.
Journals listed in the report are classified into four distinct groups: Science & Technology (English), Science & Technology (Chinese), Social Sciences (English), and Social Sciences (Chinese). For each category, the International Citation Communication Index (ICCI) is calculated. The final selections for the "Most Influential" and "Outstanding Influence" journals are determined by ranking journals within their respective groups based on descending ICCI scores.
In the Social Sciences sectors, the 2025 selection includes 10 journals each for the "Most Influential" and "Outstanding Influence" lists among English publications, and 70 journals each for the corresponding lists among Chinese publications.
