[Speaker] Sanjeev Goyal, Arthur Pigou Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, renowned for his pioneering research in network economics. He is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Econometric Society, the Society for the Promotion of Economic Theory, and the Game Theory Society.

[Introduction]The theory of network formation shows how the costs and benefits of linking shape the architecture and the welfare properties of social and economic networks. Over the past twenty years, this theory has been extensively tested in the laboratory. This talk will report the findings of large scale laboratory experiments on the formation of networks.
