Australian Ambassador Ross Garnaut Visits RUC

On the morning of April 20th, RUC Vice President DU Peng met with former Australian ambassador and professor emeritus of RUC Ross Garnaut and his wife. Both sides discussed the recent developments of Renmin University, including its exchanges with major Australian universities and direction of future cooperative efforts.

During the talks, DU Peng introduced the latest developments of Renmin University and the construction of the new Tongzhou Campus. He stated that Renmin University has always worked closely with Australian universities, such as the University of Melbourne, Macquarie University, and Australian National University, including the School of Social and Population Studies, and Agriculture and Rural Development. Many colleges in China, including RUC, have conducted various academic research and cooperative projects alongside Australian universities. They are hopeful that with the support of Ross Garnaut, RUC can further strengthen and broaden the scope of cooperation with the University of Melbourne and other universities, especially in fields such as energy security and sustainable development.

Ross Garnaut stated that the Chinese economy has always been a focus. He praised the achievements and progress made by Renmin University alongside universities of Australia in fields such as economics, energy, and rural development. He also expressed that he will continue to support research and exchanges between RUC and Australian universities.
