As a diversified, multi-level and all-round foreign language teaching and language talents cultivation base, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Renmin University of China (RUC) provides undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs (both MA and PhD degrees), postdoctoral programs as well as international students programs. The School has a complete discipline structure, with six undergraduate programs currently, including English, Japanese, Russian, German, French, and Spanish. It also has doctorate and master degree programs in foreign languages and literatures first-tier discipline and MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) programs, for which corresponding courses are offered and degrees conferred upon completion of each course of study.
The School of Chinese Studies and Cultural Exchange (SCSCE) is dedicated to training talents in International Chinese Language Education and International Cultural Exchanges. SCSCE offers doctoral and master programs in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) and undergraduate programs in Chinese Linguistic studies for international students. SCSCE also provides three kinds of professional training programs, including:(1) Long-term and short-term Chinese language courses of various levels for international students;(2) Tailored courses in Chinese for professional and specific purposes;(3) In-service teacher training programs for international Chinese language educators. It is an essential window for RUC’s international Chinese language education and global exchange and cooperation.
The School of Arts at Renmin University of China is a comprehensive art school that incorporates the disciplines of Arts Theory and Management, Fine Art, Art and Design, and Music Performance and Theory, and devoted to cultivating compound art talents with dual abilities in artistic creation and theoretical research. The School is commmited to passing on the traditions of revolution, adhering to “Art for the People” as its educational mission and creative direction, entrenching the extraordinary traditional Chinese culture, creating a newly art-disciplinary system that features "prominent priority," "prominent property,""profound social impact and in-depth humanities and social sciences," exploring “Renmin Model” of higher art education, relentlessly building autonomous knowledge system of art discipline, and serving the new form of human civilization.
The School of Information is the first institute named after "information" in Chinese universities. It aims to cultivate outstanding scientists and engineers in the information science and technology area, as well as cross-disciplinary experts who can apply modern information technology to economics, management and other fields. After more than 40 years of development, it has built an integrated undergraduate, graduate and doctoral training system for multiple disciplines of information science and technology. It is a top-notch school in computer science and technology, and the leading school in database and big data in China.
The School of Mathematics is currently comprised of Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Engineering Research Center of Financial Computing and Digital Engineering Department of Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Department of Information and Computational Science, Department of financial mathematics and financial computing. In 2011 it was approved to grant doctoral degrees of the level-1 discipline on mathematics. In 2019, the post doctoral research station of mathematics was approved, and mathematics and applied mathematics entered the first batch of first-class undergraduate majors in China. The school currently has 61 full-time teachers, among whom there are 3 foreign professors (full time) and 10 teachers are elected to the National Talents Plan.
The Physical Education Department, as a second-level teaching unit of Renmin University of China, is responsible for the teaching of physical education, extracurricular sports activities and competitions as well as the management of high-level sports teams. In addition, the Department offers a master degree program in Sports Culture and Management. At present, the Physical Education Department has a total of 47 staff members, including 2 professors, 29 associate professors, 9 lecturers and 7 administrative staffs.
School of Continuing Education (SCERUC) carries out continuing education for both academic and non-academic programs. It is an important channel for Renmin University of China to serve the society, as well as an important bridge to build a lifelong education system and a learning society. SCERUC is the executive unit of the national cadre education and training base of Renmin University of China, and the teaching unit of special training for department and bureau level cadres of state organs.
On September 4, 2012, Renmin University of China officially established its Suzhou Campus, which is fully responsible for the management of teaching and research institutions such as the International College and the Sino-French Institute as well as other social service agencies.
Suzhou Campus, an important part and new growth point of RUC’s overall development, is a window for RUC’s internationalization, an experimental base for Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools and training high-end talents, and a key platform for expanding and improving advantageous disciplines.
