On the afternoon of May 23rd, DU Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China, met with visiting Harri Melin, Vice Rector of the University of Tampere of Finland. The two sides discussed continuing cooperation opportunities and student exchanges between the two universities. He was accompanied by visiting director of the China-Finland Education and Research Center at the University of Tampere, CAI Yuxi and Jani Kohonen, Coordinator of the International Education Center.
DU Peng extended a warm welcome to Melin and his delegation and introduced the latest developments at RUC and the planning and development of the new campus construction. He spoke of the achievements of Renmin University as a leader in China in the field of humanities and social sciences and the recognition it has received worldwide. Vice Rector Melin is an old friend of Renmin University of China. He hopes that the two universities will use this renewed cooperation agreement as an opportunity to develop friendly cooperation in such broader subject areas as education, business administration, big data, and sociology, in such as teacher-student exchange and cooperation research. At the same time, RUC welcomes more outstanding students from Tampere University to study at Renmin University of China.
Vice Rector Melin introduced the research developments of Tampere University in social sciences, science and technology, medicine and other fields, as well as cooperation with Chinese universities. Tampere University will soon usher in an important opportunity for the development of campuses and disciplines. The university is confident that Renmin University will further expand its joint cooperation and increase student enrollment.
Subsequently, the two sides renewed the Memorandum of Understanding for student exchange between Renmin University of China and the Tampere University of Finland.
