Prof. WANG Yi was born in June 1972. He holds a PhD in Law and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He is a Distinguished Professor of "Yangtze River Scholars" of the Ministry of Education. WANG was awarded the title of "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions", and enjoys special government subsidies under the State Council. He also serves concurrently as Committee for Law Teaching in Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, an executive director of the Law Society of China, vice president and secretary general of the Civil Law Research Society of the Law Society of China. Besides, he is the secretary general of the Civil Code Codification Project of the Law Society of China.
His main research areas are Principles of Civil Law and Methods of Civil Law Science, General Provisions of the Civil Law, Property Law, Contract Law, Personal Rights Law and Tort law. He has also published influential articles in such important academic publications as Social Sciences in China, China Legal Science, Chinese Journal of Law, including Substantial Argument Rule of Civil Value Judgments, The Significance of Administrative License in the Civil Law Sense, On Real Rights Norms Allocation, Classification of Legal Facts in Civil Law and Legal Compensation Obligation, An Independent Type of Compensation for Loan. Moreover, he has published many books, including On Property Change, Civil Law Principles and Methods of Civil Law Science. In addition, Prof. Wang has participated in the drafting of the Contract Law of the People’s Republic of China, Property Law of the People’s Republic of China, Tort Law of the People’s Republic of China and Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China.
