From October 16th to 18th, the 2019 Zhejiang Lab Cup Global AI Competition took place in Hangzhou. Assistant professor Jin Qin’s team won first place in Technical Challenge Race, textual storytelling based on video on video understanding, out of 214 teams and won 300,000 RMB as a reward. This is after Jin Qin’s team already won first place in other competitions like: MSR “Video to Language” Grand Challenge，CVPR Activity Net “Dense Video Captioning” Challenge，and NIST TRECVID “Video to Text Description” Challenge. This shows their great expertise in the field of picture and textual storytelling based on video on video understanding. The members of the team taking part in the competition were: Song Yuqing, Zhao Yida and Chen Shizhe.

The 2019 Zhejiang Lab Cup Global AI Competition was a large-scale international competition put on by the Zhejiang Laboratory, and sponsored by Alibaba Group. The competition was split into 4 parts, Technical Challenge Race, Innovation Race, Zero-shot object detection, Person re-identification multiple object tracking, and Opinion mining for e-commerce reviews. This global competition brought in over 1700 teams and over 5000 competitors. Sign ups for the competition started July 17th of this year, and after 3 months of competition and eliminations, 40 teams made it to the final competition.
