On the afternoon of September 14th, Babaev Kirill Vladimirovich, director of the Institute of Contemporary Asia and China of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Gerasimova Olga Alekseevna, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation led a delegation to visit Renmin University of China (RUC).
Du Peng, Vice President of RUC, welcomed the delegation. He introduced RUC to the group about its history, the Suzhou campus, the Shenzhen Research Institute and the construction of new Tongzhou campus. Du said that the university is committed to promoting educational exchanges between China and Russia, and hopes to cooperate with the Russian Academy of Sciences in the fields of Chinese and Russian studies through academic exchange visits, joint research and joint conferences.
Babaev introduced the basic information of the Institute of Contemporary Asia and China of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Established in 1966, the Institute focuses on the politics, economy, culture and history of contemporary China and its neighbor countries. It is a well-known Russian think tank. He expressed great pleasure to visit RUC, and he looked forward to promoting cooperation with the School of International Studies of RUC and other institutes in academic and information exchange in the future.
Later, the delegation visited the School of International Studies. Dean Yang Guangbin and Vice Dean Li Chen welcomed them. Li Chen introduced the basic information about the School in the aspects of history, discipline development, research and international exchanges. He stressed that the School attaches great importance to the exchanges with the Russian academic circle, and welcomes Russian scholars and students.
Babaev said that colleagues of the Russian Academy of Sciences also pay great attention to the academic achievements of scholars at the School of International Studies, and are willing to share the research results. He invited scholars from the School of International Studies to visit the Russian Institute for further discussions on topics of common interest such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Community of Shared Future for Mankind.
Deputy Director Kulintsev Yury Viktorovich and researcher Zakliazminskaia Ekaterina Olegovna from the Institute of Contemporary Asia and China of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director Lin Yuan from the International Exchange Department of RUC, Professor Wang Yiwei from the School of International Studies and Professor Chen Xiaoqin from the School of International Studies attended the meeting.
