The Large Model and Bio-medicine academic seminar was held by the Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence of Renmin University of China (RUC) on 25th, September.
Professor Wen Jirong, Executive Dean of Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Professor Gao Xin from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Professor Ning Xia from Ohio State University, Associate Professor Ma Jianzhu from Tsinghua University, Ke Guolin, Project Leader of the machine learning algorithm in DP Technology, Associate Professor Sun Hao, Huang Wenbing and Liu Yong from the Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence joined the meeting.
Wen Jirong expressed his gratitude to all the teachers present at the meeting. He said that more and more scientific research institutions are participating in the development of the Large Model. It not only represents the future of AI, but also shows an important future direction of human science and technology. The ideas contained in Large Model are not just limited to the field of languages, but a deep inspiration to all walks of life, Wen marked. Under the premise that we can already encode and model languages, how to encode and model the secrets of human beings and the mysteries of the world is already on the horizon.
At present, there have already been many teachers in Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence engaging in relevant research, making fruitful achievements in promoting the construction of the AI discipline. To better serve the national AI development strategy, Wen said that the School is accelerating the pace of cooperation with all parties to drive the deep integration of “AI+”.
Then, professors and experts from different universities and institutions shared their research findings relative to the Large Model and AI.
Professor Gao Xin from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology made a report themed “Large Language Models in Biomedicine”.
Associate Professor Ning Xia, from the department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ohio State University made a report themed “Generative AI for Drug Discovery” remotely.
Associate Professor Huang Wenbing from the Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence made the report themed “Geometric Machine Learning helps Antibody Design”.
Associate Professor Ma Jianzhu, from the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, made a report themed by “Small Molecule Drug Generation Model Based on Target 3D Structure”.
Ke Guolin, Project Leader of the machine learning algorithm in DP Technology made a report themed “Modeling and Generation of three-dimensional Molecular Representations”.
The participants had a heated discussion on the topic of “Large Model and Bio-medicine” after the speeches. They focused on issues such as how to solve the scarcity of data and how to understand the relationship between the “universal model”.
