The First Public Service Forum was held on October 28th. The forum was co-hosted by Chinese Public Administration Society and Renmin University of China(RUC). The theme of the forum is Chinese Path to Modernization and Basic Public Service Construction.
In order to accelerate the improvement of the basic public service system and improve the level of public service, Chinese Public Administration Society and RUC jointly initiated the establishment of a high-end series of academic forums——Public Service Forum, aiming to create a high-level academic platform for discussing Chinese path to modernization and basic public service construction. The forum focused on major strategic issues in China's public service, promoted theoretical innovation and practical development of public service construction, and strengthened international mutual learning.
At the opening ceremony, Hua Jianmin, Li Baorong and Zhang Donggang delivered speeches successively.
Hua Jianmin congratulated Chinese Public Administration Society and RUC for co-sponsoring and co-hosting the Public Service Forum. He pointed out that public service is of great significance to the development and progress of society. Public services of different countries have their own characteristics and commonalities. We should be open-minded and learn from advanced international experience.
Li Baorong pointed out that achieving the goal of promoting Chinese path to modernization with high-quality development of public services has put forward higher requirements for theoretical research and practical work of administrative management. The Chinese Public Administration Society and RUC will jointly hold a public service forum to promote a better understanding of China's public services in the international community.
Zhang Donggang pointed out that RUC and the Chinese Public Administration Society jointly initiated the establishment of the Public Service Forum, which is of great significance to promote the theoretical innovation and practical development of public service construction. It is hoped that experts and scholars will focus on key issues, leverage the advantages of this platform, and strengthen exchanges and mutual learning.
Lin Shangli said that RUC and the Chinese Public Administration Society will take this forum as an opportunity to jointly explore effective ways to improve the quality of public service supply, jointly plan scientific programs to improve the public service system, and promote the high-quality development of public services.
The conference was held in three stages. In the first stage, Wang Tiemin, Tang Chengpei, Ning Jizhe, Raed Mohamed Benshams, Patricia de Lancy Julnis and Li Delu delivered keynote speeches successively. In the second stage, Bai Qingyuan, Qin Yi, Song Junji, Gong Weibin, Zheng Gongcheng, Ma Huade and Yu Shili delivered keynote speeches successively. In the afternoon of the same day, the third stage keynote speeches was delivered by Xue Lan, Tom Christensen, Yan Jirong, Eduardo Araral, Jiang Xiaoping, Chen Hanxuan and Sun Baiying. They all agreed that China's public services have accumulated new experiences and created a new situations by constantly building new models, allowing the broad masses of people to have a great sense of gain and happiness in sharing the development results of basic public services.
The forum also opened eight parallel youth forums, with more than 70 young scholars focusing on "Achievements and Experience in Public Service Construction in the New Era", "Public Service Theory and Independent Knowledge System", "Central-local Collaboration in Basic Public Services", "Public Service Innovation Promotes High-quality Development", "Public Service Construction Promotes Common Prosperity", "Population Aging and Public Service Innovation" and other topics conducted in-depth exchanges. Everyone combined their own expertise fields, and put forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions.
