The Interdisciplinary Development and Evaluation Forum was held from October 20th to 21th at Purple Bamboo Hotel in Beijing.
More than 200 researchers and relevant leaders from Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy (CSEDS), China Society for Scientific and Technical Information (CSSTI), Evaluation Commission of the Chinese Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Society (CSADGE-EC) and universities and institutes attended the forum.
The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Zhou Guangli, Dean of the School of Education of Renmin University of China (RUC). Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, Dai Guoqiang, Chairman of the China Society for Scientific and Technical Information and Wu Xiaoqiu, President of Research Institute of Capital Market, delivered keynote speeches on the forum.
On behalf of RUC, Wang Yi welcomed the present guests and delegates. She pointed out that the essence, the driving force and the strategic opportunity of interdisciplinary construction is knowledge integration, innovative talent training and the digital age. She hoped that all experts and scholars would carry out full exchanges on interdisciplinary issues and propose plans to build a new pattern of interdisciplinary construction with Chinese characteristics.
Dai Guoqiang emphasized in his speech that there are still constraints in interdisciplinary development. In this respect, Artificial Intelligence could help break barriers by data integration, identify potential research topics by natural language processing and solve complex interdisciplinary issues by providing possible solutions.
Wu Xiaoqiu congratulated the convening of the forum. He said that cross-disciplines will become new disciplines, thus it is necessary to research the subject disciplines and basic theories. The research should also be adapted to the changes in research methods and underlying logic of digitalization.
Then, Lin Zhonglin, distinguished professor of Macao University of Science and Technology, Lin Meng quan, Deputy Director of CSADGE-EC, Yu Xianghong, Chair of the Frontier Interdisciplinary Studies of Wuhan University, and Suo Chuanjun, outstanding scholar of RUC, delivered keynote speeches and proposed the future research direction for Chinese interdisciplinary development.
