RUC’s School of Global Governance Led a Team to Visit UNICEF China

The School of Global Governance of Renmin University of China (RUC) held a visit entitled "International Organizations in China: Visit United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) China" on October 11, 2023. 

 

Hu Qifan, a teacher from the School of Global Governance of RUC, led a team of 35 teachers and students from 11 colleges to participate in the activity. The event was moderated by Fu Tao, UNICEF Human Resources Support Officer.

 

Zheng Shulin, a 2010 RUC alumna and social policy officer, introduced the basic situation and values of the global work of UNICEF and interacted with students in combination with videos related to World Children's Day. Zheng explained different forms of aid, guided students to think about the logic behind aid and public policy, and the values behind UNICEF's work. She introduced in detail the development history of UNICEF in China, recent projects, and the role and contribution of UNICEF in humanitarian emergency assistance in contemporary China.

 

Li Ning, Human Resources Officer, first reviewed the history of cooperation between the School of Global Governance of RUC and UNICEF China and introduced the working model and job types of UNICEF, as well as the current situation of the China team. Fu introduced the students to the UNICEF internship program, including the recruitment process, application requirements and internship model.

 

Two students from RUC who are working as interns in UNICEF China shared their internship experiences.

 

Yu Yiqi, a 2020 undergraduate student from the School of Foreign Languages and a third-term student of the School of Global Governance, introduced the cooperation between UNICEF and the public and private sectors from the perspective of career development and personal growth, combined with her internship experience.

 

Mu Ruotong, a 2020 undergraduate student at the School of Philosophy and a second-term student, shared her work experience at UNICEF’s Public Partnership Office, encouraging students who are interested in international organization work to attend relevant courses, enhance professional skills, and learn about and participate in UN-related activities.

 

Then, the students had a deep discussion and exchange with Li on career development, academic planning, competency training and other topics.

 

Finally, Clemence Ingabire, Manager of the Human Resources Department, warmly welcomed the teachers and students of the School of Global Governance of RUC. She briefly introduced her working experience in UNICEF and hoped that the visit would make everyone feel the inclusive working atmosphere of UNICEF and the work philosophy of care and respect, and have a clearer understanding of the organizational framework of UNICEF. She hoped to meet everyone again in the future.

 

Since its establishment in 2019, the School of Global Governance of RUC has actively implemented the "Talent Training Program for Global Governance and International Organizations" and continuously innovated and developed various aspects of its work.

 

As one of the brand projects of the School of Global Governance, the practice visit of "International Organizations in China" has visited dozens of international organizations' representative offices in China and other relevant institutions, bringing international organizations to the young students of the RUC.
