On November 8, Zhang Donggang, the Chair of the University Council of Renmin University of China(RUC), met with Huang Luqi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputy director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), and president of the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CATCM). The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the promotion of the culture of traditional Chinese medicine and the inheritance and development of the China’s excellent traditional culture. Tang Zhishu, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences(CAMS) and Dean of the Graduate School, Zheng Shuiquan, Vice Chair of the University Council, and Zhu Xinkai, Vice President of RUC, took part in the activities.
Zhang Donggang said that culture is the soul of a country and a nation, and the foundation of national prosperity and strength and national revitalization. He also mentioned that RUC would give full play to its advantage of running a school that is "unique in the field of humanities and social sciences in China", explore the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese medicine culture, make great efforts to cultivate top-notch innovative talents, and make practical moves to serve the construction of a healthy China, so that it can take up a new cultural mission with a new appearance, and let the Chinese culture continue to be inherited and spread out.
Huang Luqi said that Chinese medicine, as the traditional medical science of the China, profoundly reflects the worldview, values of life and health of the Chinese nation. Therefore, it is hoped that the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Renmin University of China would have close exchanges, complement each other's strengths, and work hand in hand to promote the new high-quality inheritance and development of traditional Chinese medicine culture, so as to infuse new vigor and vitality into the promotion of creative transformation and innovative development of the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
Afterwards, the third lecture of Renmin University of China High-end Lecture Series on National Medical Culture Inheritance and Development was held, and Huang Luqi gave a lecture on the topic of "Integration and Development of Chinese Medicine Culture and Science and Technology". He vividly described the development of Chinese medicine, the theory and culture of Chinese medicine and health care, the practices of Chinese medicine against pandemic and so on. At the end of the lecture Huang Luqi and students had interactive exchanges on the topic.
After the lecture, Zheng Shuiquan accompanied Huang Luqi and his entourage to visit the museum of Renmin University of China.
About 350 people attended the activity, including the relevant staff from the Admission Office of the Graduate School of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Department of Academic Engineering, the Office of Renmin University of China, the Office of the Leading Group of Preparation for the Establishment of the School of Chinese Medicine of RUC, the Youth League Committee and the Museum of RUC, as well as faculty and students representatives of RUC and CATCM.
