On November 21th, the opening ceremony and summit forum of the "Art for the People—Constructing Independent Knowledge System of China's Higher Art Education",co-sponsored by Renmin University of China(RUC) and China Academy of Art was held at RUC. Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, Cao Xiaoyang, Vice President of China Academy of Art, and Zhang Chun, Dean of the School of Arts of RUC attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 30 experts and scholars attended. The opening ceremony was hosted by Liu Mingcai, deputy dean of the School of Arts.
Wang Yi said in her speech that this exhibition and summit forum is a valuable exploration by the two universities to promote the construction of independent knowledge system of China’s higher art education. The joint efforts of teachers and students of the two universities will surely accumulate strength and make new contributions to the overall development of Chinese art.
Cao Xiaoyang said in his speech that Chinese art is an important part of Chinese culture and has unique heritage and aesthetic value. The holding of the "Art for the People"exhibition and summit forum will demonstrate the dialogue and collision between teachers and students of the two universities focusing on individual and society, life and art, tradition and modernity.
Zhang Chun said in his speech that the School of Arts of RUC , based on the education and creation concept of "art for the people", actively promotes interdisciplinary cooperation. It has maintained good interactive relationships with the School of Liberal Arts, History, Philosophy, and Chinese Classics for a long time.
At the summit forum held after the opening ceremony of the art exhibition, experts and scholars conducted high-level academic dialogues in the form of keynote speeches and discussions, focusing on "How to construct independent knowledge system of China's higher art education" ,"How can China's higher art education achieve self-disciplined development in the practice of interdisciplinary integration" and "How to improve the comprehensive development of art college students through the integration and complementarity of various majors". Today, strengthening exchanges and mutual learning between different cultures will provide more possibilities for the innovative development of Chinese art.
