Hu Naiwu Award for Outstanding Achievements in Chinese Macroeconomic Theory Announced in Beijing

The China Macroeconomic Forum (CMF) Annual Forum (2023-2024) and the award ceremony for the Hu Naiwu Award for Outstanding Achievements in Chinese Macroeconomic Theory were held in Beijing on Nov. 26th, with four works awarded including two books and two papers.

 

The two books were authored by Liu Yuanchun, President of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and former Vice President of Renmin University of China. The awarded work was the monograph Open Macroeconomic Analysis Framework and Case Studies in China. The other book was authored by Shi Jinchuan, a senior professor in the humanities at Zhejiang University. The awarded work was the monograph Introduction to Inflation in the Socialist Economy.

 

The two papers were authored by Gao Peiyong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and former Vice President, and Bai Chong’en, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. Gao’s awarded work was the paper China’s Forty Years of Fiscal and Taxation Reform: The Main Path, Fundamental Experiences and Basic Laws. Bai’s awarded work was the paper Factor Income Share in China: The Story behind the Statistics.

 

The Hu Naiwu Award for Outstanding Achievements in Chinese Macroeconomic Theory aims to commemorate the outstanding contributions made by Professor Hu Naiwu to the development of Chinese macroeconomic theory and talent cultivation, to carry forward his academic ideas and educational spirit, and to promote the development of Chinese macroeconomic theory.

 

The above-mentioned awards were established with the support of the Hu Naiwu Professor Education Fund, whose funds were mainly donated by Professor Hu Naiwu’s students and Mao Zhenhua, the founder of China Chengxin Group.

 

Shi Jinchuan expressed that winning the award is just a new starting point for his research in economic theory. He would continue to work in economic research and to make his contributions.
