School of Applied Economics at RUC and Department of Economics at Yales MOU Signing Ceremony and Experience Sharing was Held

The School of Applied Economics, Renmin University School of China (RUC) and the Department of Economics, Yale University held a meeting to discuss their cooperative intentions and exchange experiences with international journal editors. 

 

Costas Arkolakis, Professor of Economics at Yale University and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Economics, Sun Kyoung Lee, Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, and Anton Yang, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Economics, Yale University and a researcher at Purdue University's GTAP, attended the meeting.

 

Professors Ding Shouhai, Wei Chu, Chen Zhanming, and Pei Jiansuo from the School of Applied Economics, RUC, along with Associate Professors Su Li, Chen Hao, Zhang Zhongwen, Mei Yingdan, Chen Jiaying, and Lu Angdi, and Assistant Professors Pan Dongyang, Sun Pin, Liu Yinan, Li Yaxin, and Zhao Yuheng participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Professor Xie Linyu, a professor at the School of Applied Economics and the Executive Dean of the Institute of Peace and Development Studies.

 

 

In his speech, Wei Chu, Vice Dean of the School of Applied Economics extended a warm welcome to the visiting scholars and provided a detailed introduction to the school. Wei Chu emphasized the school's commitment to continuous innovation and the creation of a diverse academic environment to cultivate outstanding young talents, which is of great significance for economic and social development. He hoped that both sides could establish a good relationship and looked forward to fruitful cooperation between the two universities, wishing the experience sharing a successful outcome.

 

Costas Arkolakis thanked the School of Applied Economics for organizing the event and shared his research in the field of international trade and spatial models, highlighting China's increasingly crucial role in these areas. He emphasized the importance of ongoing international collaborative research and expressed the hope for close connections between both sides. 

 

 

During the "Experience Sharing with International Journal Editors" session, participating scholars presented their research work and engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions.

 

In the Q&A session, student representatives actively asked questions, and the attending scholars provided advice on reading academic papers and books based on their own experiences. They encouraged students to continue learning and researching.

 

The attending scholars expressed that this meeting provided an opportunity for in-depth exchanges between the two sides. They were inspired by the discussions and looked forward to more opportunities for further cooperation and research in the future.
