The Delegation of St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), led by lgor Maksimtsev, Rector of UNECON, visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on Jan. 19th.
Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He expressed that UNECON is an important partner of RUC, and the two universities have had diverse and fruitful cooperation in various forms. RUC has always attached great importance to exchange and cooperation with Russian universities and has taken the lead in establishing platforms for Sino-Russian exchanges.
Zheng Xinye hoped that the two universities would continue to deepen faculty and student exchanges, encourage young students from both sides to learn and understand each other's language and culture and conduct in-depth research. Focusing on areas of expertise such as Russian language and literature, economics, international relations, and business, the two universities could expand academic exchanges through forms such as teacher visits and joint research, explore joint research in fields such as climate change, energy security, food security, gender equality, and aging population, and work together to provide Sino-Russian higher education solutions to global challenges.
Igor Maksimtsev expressed his gratitude for the long-standing cooperation between RUC and UNECON. UNECON has significant influence in the Russian academic community and has cultivated numerous elite talents for Russia and the world. It is also one of the first non-language universities in Russia to offer Chinese language courses and has actively promoted student exchange and faculty visits between Chinese and Russian universities over the years.
With the support of the university's high-quality alumni resources and disciplinary advantages, Igor Maksimtsev hoped to further deepen scientific research and talent development cooperation with RUC, create a high-level and distinctive Sino-Russian academic research and exchange dialogue brand, and explore the establishment of more dual-degree programs to cultivate more high-level professionals for Sino-Russian cooperation in various fields.
Olga Onufrieva, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and External Communication, Natalia Sirota, Vice-Rector for Organisational and Personnel Development and Andrei Prutskikh, Dean of the Dept. of Russian Language and Literature, UNECON, came with the delegation.
Yi Jingtao, Dean of the Business School, Yu Ze, Vice Dean of the School of Economics, Zhang Jin, Vice Dean of the School of Business, Liu Xu, Executive Director of the Center for International Energy Strategy, Chen Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Russian Department of the School of Foreign Languages, RUC, attended the meeting.
