“In festive attire, we gather together,
Streets
lit up, with children’s laughter.”
On
February 24, 2024,
RUC
students gather at the campus fair,
Celebrating
the Lantern Festival
Amidst
the joyous spring air.
Warm
lights flicker,
Laughter
everywhere.
A
day of romance and splendor
Awaiting to appear.
First Stop: Fortune Tossing
In
ancient times, on days like this,
Scholars
gathered with merry spirit.
With
poetry, wine, and games they’d play,
Hoping to chase sorrows away.
Tossing
arrows was more than game.
It
was a wish for fortune, many say.
And
now, behold, RUCers so brave,
Casting
arrows with perfect aim.
As
arrows land inside the jug,
The
campus bathe in fortune’s hug.
Second Stop: Crafting Lanterns
In
the chilly air, lanterns beam bright,
A
beacon of joy, a symbol of reunion.
With
skillful hands and whimsical flair,
Students
craft lanterns with utmost care.
Each
one different, yet all carrying hopes
For
the new year’s blessings to grow in full.
Third Stop: Calligraphy
Calligraphy
is an ancient art,
Brushstrokes
reveal a majestic heart.
On
this day of festive joy,
Students
wield their brush in pride.
Masterpieces
appear under their stroke,
Meanwhile great expectations unfold.
Fourth Stop: Guessing Riddles
The
Lantern Festival’s cherished delight,
Is
none other than solving riddles at night.
From
clue to answer, brilliance sparks,
RUCers
compete with minds so sharp.
In
moments of insight, inspiration ignite,
Kindling
the season’s brightest light.
Fifth Stop: Reciting Poems
Poetry,
a treasure of cultural grace,
In
festive times, it finds its place.
A
unique romance for the Chinese,
As
poets gather, verses don’t cease.
With
wisdom vast, talents keen,
Students
take the stage, a poetic scene.
In
this literary parade, they shine bright,
Illuminating
the festival night.
Sixth Stop: Remembering the Night
In
this mirthful atmosphere,
We
cherish a joyful day that’s rare.
RUCers,
some with lanterns in hand,
Leaving
traces of spring’s bright brand.
Others,
with couplets freshly penned,
Dreaming
of fortunes yet to ascend.
Cameras
capture each fleeting frame,
Moments
of memory, never to fade.
Spring
arrives, its warmth unfolds,
Bringing
joy to countless homes.
We
gather in the festive air,
Playing
games with lanterns bright.
The
vibrant and joyful fair has ceased,
But
our hopes for the new year won’t decrease.
