With the theme of “Women’s Craftsmanship for a Better Nation”, the first event of “Female model Lecture” was held at Renmin University of China (RUC).

Zhang Donggang, Chairman of the University Council, Pan Jian, Secretary of the Secretariat of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Hu Baijing, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Youth League of China, Liu Qinghua, Propoganda Minister of All-China Women,s Federation, Dong Kuan, President of China Worker Press, Liu Xiangbing, Chairman of the council of China University of Labor Relations, and Zheng Shuiquan, President of RUC Labor Union attended the event. Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC, presided over the event.

Before the event, Zhang Donggang met with Pan Jian and women role models. Zhang paid high tribute to them and sent them holiday greetings. He hoped that with this opportunity, students could understand the meaning of the spirit of labour and craftsmanship

Pan Jian hoped that all the young students could raise their spirits and draw strenghth from those touching stories.

In his speech, Zheng Shuiquan introduced the five women role models, who come from different fields. He expected teachers and students to learn from the guests, especially their qualities, and to make greater contributions to the career and the nation.

Wang Yi thought that on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, sharing models’s life stories could not only inspire the women teachers, but also motivate our students to devote themselves in social practice.

In the event, five women role models delivered speeches and interacted with teachers and students at the scene. 

Hong Fei, the senior engineer in Hanvon Technology Co., Ltd encouraged the students to make breakthroughs and creat innovations in their careers. “No matter what gender, age and role you are, you can create you own wonderful life”, she said.

Xu Zichuan, executive deputy director of Converged Innovation Center, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company, shared her experience in serving the people as a member of the State Grid with practical actions.

Tian Fang, who is engaged in aerospace, told her story with three key phrases “chasing the dram” “preparing for the dream” and “realizing the dream”.

Engaged in flight, Song Yin shared how she tried to ensure the maritime energy security with professional knowledge and skills, and how she grew from the valuable experience in the past.

Ma Shenxiao, professor from School of Marxism Studies, said that young teachers should be more proactive, vigorously carry forward the spirit of the role models, labour and craftsmanship, and strive to take on the responsibility of the times.

Pan Jian, Hu Baijing and Liu Qinghua presented the appointment letter for the five women role models.

The featured film “Their Journey” was also played at the event, leading teachers and students to closely understand and learn from those women role models.

The event was simultaneously broadcast online on nearly 30 media platforms, and was viewed more than 900,000 times.
