On April 7, 2024, the China International Issues Forum and the inauguration ceremony of the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security were held.

During the event, the Contemporary China and World Research Institute of China International Publishing Group(CIPG) and the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security of RUC signed a strategic cooperation agreement.

Guests from the government, enterprises, universities and officials of RUC were in attendance.

The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Zheng Shuiquan, Vice Chair of the University Council. Experts and scholars from various universities and research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University, also participated in the conference.

Lin Shangli, President of RUC, expressed gratitude to Ye Chenghai, an alumnus of RUC, for his longstanding concern, care, and support for the university. He also thanked the guests and experts for their attendance and expressed confidence that RUC would spare no effort to build the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security with high quality.

Du Zhanyuan, Director of China International Publishing Group(CIPG), stated that currently, the world is undergoing unprecedented changes, with changes in the world, the times, and history unfolding in unprecedented ways. As a comprehensive international communication institution, China International Publishing Group will continuously deepen its strategic cooperation with RUC, conduct cooperative research on major practical issues in the field of global development and security, and address the urgent need for development for all humanity.

At the ceremony, guests together unveiled the "Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security."

Sun Jingxin, Deputy Director of the Contemporary China and World Research Institute, and Yang Guangbin, Dean of the School of International Relations of RUC and Director of the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security, signed a strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the Contemporary China and World Research Institute and the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security.

After the signing of the agreement, Yang Guangbin, Dean of the School of International Relations of RUC and Director of the Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security, introduced the preparation, development plan, and future prospects of the institute to the attending experts and scholars. Both sides will deepen cooperation in various fields such as scientific research, talent cultivation, external communication, and international exchange, and jointly contribute to promoting benign interaction between China and the world and promoting global development and security.

The Chenghai Institute of Global Development and Security was established with the donation of Mr. Ye Chenghai, an alumnus of the School of International Relations of RUC, and is a high-end think tank based on disciplines.

As a high-end international research institution, the institute is committed to conducting strategic research on the overall development and security of the country urgently needed by the world. It focuses on elaborating the changing world order, better studying the relationship between development and security based on an independent political science knowledge system, and promoting world civilization progress.

During the conference, experts and scholars also participated in the 2024 China International Issues Forum and conducted in-depth discussions on the global economic system, global security order, and regional trends under the great changes.
