The delegation of Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS), led by Vice President Justina Tan visited Renmin University of China (RUC) recently. Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, met with the delegation. The meeting saw fruitful discussions and consensus on advancing talent development projects, faculty and scholar exchanges, and collaborative research on global issues between the two universities.
Welcoming the delegation, Zheng Xinye provided an overview of RUC, its key disciplines, and its collaboration with Singaporean universities. He emphasized RUC's longstanding commitment to cooperation with Singaporean higher education institutions, highlighting SUSS as a premier institution in social sciences. Expressing hopes for deep and pragmatic collaboration, he proposed joint efforts on "Asian Narratives" to promote the development and application of respective advantageous disciplines.
Zheng Xinye also extended invitations for young and senior scholars from SUSS to engage in short and long-term exchanges at RUC, focusing on collaborative research in social sciences addressing issues such as aging populations, sustainable development, climate change, and women's rights. This collaboration aims to cultivate global governance talents with a "global vision" and contribute jointly to peace, development, and prosperity in Asia, as well as the resolution of major global challenges.
Justina Tan introduced the history, characteristics, and international exchanges of SUSS. She acknowledged the positive exchanges already undertaken in areas such as aging populations and pledged support for further strengthening pragmatic cooperation. Noting the university's emphasis on practice-oriented education and lifelong learning, as well as its partnerships with various Singaporean government agencies and large enterprises, she expressed the hope to establish complementary advantages and a long-term cooperative mechanism with RUC, particularly in teacher exchanges and talent development.
