Delegation of the University of Liverpool visited RUC

The delegation of the University of Liverpool, led by Joe Sweeney, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, and Peter McCormick, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Partnerships and Post-Graduate Affairs, visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on April 22.

Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, welcomed the delegation. During the meeting, he briefly introduced the history and achievements of RUC, and pointed out that the university is now committed to building a high-level talent cultivation platform and improving its English curriculum system based on innovative projects. He said that in the future, RUC and the University of Liverpool could strengthen the cooperation on cultural exchange, field research, joint training and summer school to jointly cultivate outstanding students with global perspectives.

He also expected that the two universities can find more cooperation opportunities. On global issues such as climate change, food security, poverty reduction, security, and global health governance, the two universities could set up a joint research team to make prominent and influential achievements and build a leading research brand. In addition, based on the “Qiushi Scholar” Project of RUC which is designed for scholars and students globally, the two universities could explore academic cooperation and increase dialogues and contacts.

Joe Sweeney introduced the University of Liverpool. He mentioned that the University of Liverpool is also one of the Red Brick Universities, which is renowned in the field of natural science, engineering and law, and has provided a large number of excellent talents for UK’s infrastructure development.

Peter McCormick introduced the disciplinary construction in life sciences and other disciplines. He also expressed his hope that the two universities can continue to expand international cooperation and further deepen cooperation in various fields to jointly provide solutions for global governance, and work together to promote the sustainable development of human society.

Kanstantsin Dzehtsiarou, Associate Dean of Internationalisation at the School of Law and Social Justice, Chen Dan Owen, Deputy Head of International Recruitment and Luisa Lovering, Deputy Head of International Relations joined the visit.
