Lecture about the Empowerment of Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary

Introduction:

Xu jun, professor of Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence at RUC, gave a lecture about the empowerment of artificial intelligence in the judiciary at 14:00-15:30 on May 8th in Room 601 of Linde Building.

Xu Jun is the professor of Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence at RUC (tenured Associate Professor), distinguished scholar professor of RUC, and scholar of Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence. Previously employed at Microsoft Research Asia, Huawei Noah's Ark Lab (Hong Kong), and the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xu Jun joined Renmin University of China in September 2018. His research interests include internet search and recommendation models and systems. He has published over 100 papers, authored 2 monographs, and holds more than 10 authorized patents. Some of his research results have been included in information retrieval textbooks and applied in search and recommendation products by Microsoft and Huawei. Xu Jun has received several awards, including the ACM SIGIR 2019 Test of Time Award Honorable Mention, CIKM 2017 Best Full Paper Runner-up, CCIR 2022, AIRS 2010, and ICMLC 2005 Best Paper Awards, as well as the Second Prize of Beijing Natural Science Award (Ranked 2nd). He has led national key research and development projects and national natural science foundation projects.

 

Abstract:

In recent years, artificial intelligence technology has been gradually applied in judicial services. It not only provides reasonable advice for legal issues encountered by the people, but also improves the efficiency of judicial cases handling, thus promoting "same case, same judgment," judicial fairness, and realizing the optimization of judicial resource allocation. The report introduces the intersection of artificial intelligence and judiciary, explore the cross-research of artificial intelligence technology in case matching, legal assistants, and other aspects, while also investigating the legal issues caused by generative artificial intelligence.
