Delegation of Irkutsk State University Visited RUC

On May 8th, Zheng Xinye, vice president of Renmin University of China met Konstantin Grigorichev, vice rector of Irkutsk State University, Russia.


Zheng Xinye welcomed the visit of Irkutsk State University and briefly introduced the history and general development situation of RUC. At present, Renmin University of China attaches great importance to cooperation and exchanges with Russian universities, and has concluded cooperative partnerships with top Russian universities such as Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, and St. Petersburg State University of Economics, and led the establishment of a number of exchange platforms with Russia. Renmin University of China looked forward to developing deeper cooperation about youth exchanges and personnel visits with Irkutsk State University in the future, conducting joint studies on climate change, energy security and food security in East Asia to contribute to the resolution of major global issues.

 

Konstantin Grigorichev generally introduced the basic situation of Irkutsk State University. Located on the shores of Lake Baikal, Irkutsk State University offers a variety of international exchange programs, such as the Summer Basic Russian Language School and the Bachelor's Program in International Journalism in English. It has attracted a large number of international students and looks forward to welcoming more Chinese students to come and study. Konstantin Grigorichev pointed out that based on the disciplinary advantages and the foundation of cooperation in the early stage, he looked forward to taking this cooperation with the School of Journalism as a new beginning to continue to expand the cooperation between the two universities.

 

The two sides agreed to further explore the specific working mechanism of cooperation, make joint efforts to promote closer friendship and cooperation between the two universities and contribute to more prosperous exchanges of higher education between China and Russia.

 

Julia Arskaya, Deputy Director of the School of Languages, Foreign Languages and Media Communication of Irkutsk State University, and Eugeny Kremnyov, Director of the Department of Sinology, also visited. Leaders and teachers from the School of Journalism and International Office attended the meeting.
