Speaker Biography
Tabata Minoru, a renowned Japanese Marxist philosopher, is a professor at Osaka University of Economics, founder of the Osaka Materialism Research Association, and editor-in-chief of the Quarterly Journal of Materialism Research. His main research areas are Marxist philosophy and German classical philosophy. Since 1980, he has been actively promoting the “Re-reading Marx” movement, focusing on the concept of “association” to deeply explore the transformative power in Marx’s writings, which has had a significant impact in Japan. His major works include Marx and Association: An Attempt to Re-read Marx and Marx and Philosophy: Methods of Re-reading Marx.
