The delegation of Renmin University of China (RUC), led by Vice President Zheng Xinye, visited the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in China on May 17, where they met with UAE Ambassador Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi.

During the meeting, Zheng Xinye provided an overview of RUC, highlighting its strengths and areas of academic excellence. He emphasized the university’s origins, tracing back to the Shanbei Public School established in 1937. Over the years, RUC has made significant contributions to the development and prosperity of philosophy and social sciences in China, earning its reputation as a leading institution in the field of humanities and social sciences.

Zheng Xinye noted the importance RUC places on educational exchanges with UAE institutions. Currently, RUC is actively engaging with several partner universities in the UAE, including the University of Jordan and Zarqa University. These collaborations include personnel exchanges and academic seminars. Looking ahead, RUC aims to expand its cooperation with UAE universities further, focusing on creating joint talent development programs centered on national governance. This initiative seeks to cultivate globally-minded professionals and enhance the international influence of both Chinese and UAE higher education institutions.

Ambassador Al Hammadi warmly welcomed the RUC delegation, noting that this year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE. He highlighted the substantial progress made in bilateral relations since their establishment. The ambassador expressed the embassy’s continued support for strengthening cooperation between RUC and UAE universities and research institutions. He emphasized the importance of broadening exchanges through personnel visits, think tank collaborations and various training programs to deepen cultural and educational ties between China and the UAE, thereby advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.

Both parties reached a preliminary consensus on promoting Sino-UAE educational exchanges, talent development, and academic cooperation.

Also in attendance were Wu Xiaojing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Continuing Education, and Yuan Yilin, Deputy Director of the International Office at RUC.
