CMG Institute Inaugurated in Beijing

The China Media Group (CMG) Institute was officially inaugurated in Beijing on June 7. Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council of Renmin University of China (RUC), attended the ceremony.

The event was graced by the presence of Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and President of CMG, along with Gao Xiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese Academy of History. They jointly unveiled the plaque for the CMG Institute and its postdoctoral research workstation.


Zhang Donggang, along with Li Wentang, Vice President of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC (National Academy of Governance), Wang Xiaozhen, Vice President of CMG, Wu Shizhong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Wei, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Director of the History Department, and Zhuang Shuxin, Secretary-General of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, launched the initial collaborative projects and distinctive programs of the CMG Institute. Other notable attendees included Qi Zhuquan and Zhou Zhenhong, members of the CMG editorial board.


The CMG Institute is dedicated to be a leading international think tank, focusing on major national strategic needs. It aims to conduct forward-looking, targeted, and reserve policy research, providing a comprehensive platform that integrates theoretical research, talent cultivation, and practical exploration.

During the ceremony, CMG Institute, in collaboration with the News Center of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce and the School of Journalism of Communication at RUC launched the "Promoting Chinese Enterprises' Overseas Image through Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture " project. This initiative aims to leverage traditional Chinese culture to enhance the global image of Chinese enterprises, linking corporate practice, media communication, and think tank research to effectively present a true, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive image of China.


Additionally, the Institute unveiled several other collaborative projects: the "Study on the Spiritual Symbols of the Chinese Nation in the New Era" with the Chinese Academy of History and the Institute of Chinese Culture at Beijing Normal University; the "Construction of Chinese Discourse and Narrative Systems in the Context of Chinese Modernization" with Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication; the "Deep Integration of 'Media + Tourism' Development" with the Research Institute of China Tourism Group Corporation; and the "Artificial Intelligence Development and Governance" project with the Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
