On June 23th, RUC Commencement 2024 was successfully held. The event brought together 8,395 graduates of the Class of 2024. Representatives from teachers and researchers, administrative staff and logistics group of Renmin University of China were also present.
Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council; Lin Shangli, President of the university; Professor Feng Huiling, former Vice President; Professor Wang Liming, former Vice President; Professor Wu Xiaoqiu, former Vice President; Professor Zhang Leisheng, School of Marxism Studies; Professor Yang Ruilong, School of Economics attended the ceremony. Members of the university’s leadership were also present, among them were Wu Fulai, Zheng Shuiquan, Qi Pengfei, Wang Yi(male), Wang Yi(female), Feng Shizheng, Zheng Xinye, Zhi Xiaoqiang and QingGeletu.
The ceremony was moderated by Zhang Donggang. In his speech, he urged all graduates to integrate their personal ideals and pursuits into the cause of the country and the nation. Standing at a new starting point, he hoped that students would show their youthful actions and contribute their youthful strength.
Lin Shangli hoped that everyone would keep the RUC tradition in mind. “I believe that our students will certainly devote themselves to the development of the country and the nation, creating a brilliant future that belongs to yourself”, Lin added. He also wished to see that the graduates demonstrate the uniqueness of the university by shouldering the noble responsibility of national rejuvenation.
Professor Zhu Rui sent his blessings to the graduates through a video message. He hoped that the students can connect their personal aspirations with the true value of things. He hoped that the students can realize their personal ambitions in things that are truly valuable. “No matter where you are in the future or what life circumstances you face, you can rely on your outstanding wisdom, strong will and kind nature to explore what your heart’s desire and find your own brilliant starry sky”.
Next, representatives of students also shared their stories with the participants. Liu Jiachen, an undergraduate from School of Finance said that "we will shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation with a spirit of fearlessness of challenges and live up to the graduation badge on our chest that belongs only to RUC students."
He Linxin, a post-undergraduate from School of CPC History & Party-Building, said that studying and training at RUC has given us a unique perspective to understand society and the necessary ability to integrate into society, leading us to truly touch the pulse of the times and listen to the voice of the era.
Wang Hanzhi, a PhD student from School of Information, said that as a member of RUC, they will strictly abide by the university’s motto of "seeking truth from facts" and integrate the small goals of personal pursuits into the big blueprint for the development of the country.
The presentation of prizes began after the speeches. Representatives of Outstanding graduates were awarded with a certificate of accomplishment. Following that, representatives of graduates presented flowers to teachers. Some of them are dedicated to impart knowledge to students, some are committed to protecting the safety of students, still some strive to ensure the smooth function of the university.
In the end, the graduates stood up to sing the university anthem. The ceremony came to a successful end in the midst of joys.
