The Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation and Development Talent Forum 2024, part of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum series, was held at Renmin University of China (RUC) on July 20th.
The event aimed to promote the integration of AI into new productivity, enhance educational and scientific talent cultivation, and create a comprehensive AI talent ecosystem in Beijing. The forum featured project launches, achievement releases, keynote speeches, and roundtable discussions, with experts and industry leaders convening to discuss the future of AI development.
Yu Yingjie emphasized the importance of the forum, particularly in integrating education, science, and talent development. He highlighted Beijing's efforts in building influential AI research institutions, such as the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence and the Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence. Yu proposed three key actions: continuous research and application of AI, fostering top AI talent, and ensuring safety in AI development through integrated innovation.
Zhang Donggang remarked on the strategic importance of AI development. He noted that the forum's focus on the AI industry and talent development is crucial. Zhang outlined RUC's commitment to advancing AI through interdisciplinary research, industry-academia collaboration, and innovation in talent cultivation.
Yu Huafeng discussed Mentougou District's initiatives to integrate with Beijing's international science and technology innovation center. He emphasized the district's efforts to establish an AI talent training system and support various AI-related projects and policies, contributing to Beijing's goal of becoming a global leader in AI innovation and application.
The forum brought together resources from universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises to launch four innovative projects in the AI talent field: the "AI+ Digital Audiovisual" Maker Training Camp, the "Intelligent Future" AI Course Digital Resource Innovation Plan, the "Mentougou Smart Valley" Ascend AI Innovation Competition, and the "Smart Valley Plan" Talent Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Wang Yi, Vice President of RUC participated in the launch ceremony of the Maker Training Camp, underscoring the importance of high-level AI talent cultivation platforms.
The forum also released the AI Industry Talent Analysis Report 2024, providing valuable insights for constructing Beijing's AI innovation hub. Experts and scholars praised Beijing's achievements in AI industry development and talent cultivation. They discussed ways to further integrate education, technology, and talent development to foster new productivity and advance the AI industry.
Prominent speakers included Shen Changxiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zheng Weimin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhou Chenghu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Meng Meiling, Chair of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They delivered keynote speeches on topics such as "Developing a Secure and Trustworthy AI Industry Ecosystem," "Research and Talent Cultivation in AI Colleges," and "Fostering AI Talent with Humanistic Qualities."
The forum highlighted the dual focus on industry and talent, exploring themes of building an integrated AI talent ecosystem and optimizing talent utilization. It facilitated dialogues among domestic and international AI experts, leading enterprise representatives, and industry leaders, fostering a collaborative environment for AI innovation and development.
The forum was co-hosted by the Beijing Talent Work Bureau, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, RUC, the Beijing Mentougou District Committee, and the Mentougou District People's Government. Key speakers included Yu Yingjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Education Work Committee, Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, and Yu Huafeng, Secretary of the Mentougou District Committee.
