Delegation of Sophia University Visited RUC

The delegation of Sophia University in Japan, led by Vice President Tetsuro Morishita, visited Renmin University of China (RUC) on August 29, welcomed by Zhi Xiaoqiang, Vice President of RUC.


During the meeting, Zhi Xiaoqiang highlighted RUC’s strengths in journalism, law, economics, philosophy, and sociology. He expressed hopes for further practical cooperation between the two universities, particularly in addressing social issues by applying innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data.


Zhi Xiaoqiang emphasized the potential for both universities to collaborate on interdisciplinary academic projects and talent development initiatives. He also suggested expanding topic-focused academic exchanges, including cross-disciplinary teaching practices, visits to prominent companies, and executive dialogues, to advance higher education and increase both universities’ influence. He expressed optimism about the potential for joint efforts to contribute solutions for global governance.


Tetsuro Morishita noted that Sophia University’s journalism program has trained many professionals in the media industry. He expressed interest in collaborating with RUC on academic projects, further enhancing exchanges between the two universities and deepening mutual understanding between Chinese and Japanese youth. He also emphasized the desire to contribute positively to academic exchanges and student development.

The delegation from Sophia University included Maki Nakano, Director of the Office for International Education, and Xinli Li, Director of the China Liaison Office, along with staff members Minghui Ma and Can Wang. Representatives from RUC's International Office and the School of Journalism and Communication also attended the meeting.
