On December 15th, Renmin University of China (RUC) held the 2024 High-end Forum on Modernization of National Governance and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Academy of National Governance.
The Academy of National Governance of RUC will build a brand-new platform for cultivating national governance talents with an international perspective and capable of meeting the needs of the digital age. It will construct a lifelong learning system in the new era that “reassures the Party, satisfies the people and ranks among the world’s top,” and serve the construction of a talent-strong country through the establishment of a high-quality education system.
Lin Shangli stated that the modernization of national governance is both an essential component of and a powerful driving force for promoting Chinese path to modernization Chinese modernization. RUC is willing to work hand in hand with all parties to further promote interdisciplinary integration, cultivate compound national governance talents, provide high-quality advisory services for government decision-making, and pool wisdom and contribute to promoting the modernization of China’s system and capacity for governance.
Xu Qingsen expressed that the establishment of The Academy of National Governance of RUC has further integrated the resources and strengths of academic research, think tank construction, as well as education and training both inside and outside RUC. It is not only a vivid manifestation of the spiritual character that “as a university run by the Communist Party of China, it reassures the Party, and as a university of the people, it lives up to the people”, but also an act of taking on responsibilities to actively contribute to promoting the building of a powerful country through comprehensively advancing Chinese path to modernization.
After the Inauguration Ceremony, Qiu Baoxing, Zhang Bing, Tang Qingli and Zheng Gongcheng respectively gave keynote speeches on “Cultural Patterns, Digital Technologies and Quality Governance Engineering,” “Establishing the ‘Integration of Multiple Plans’ Territorial Space Planning System to Promote the Modernization of the Spatial Governance System and Governance Capacity,” “Cooperative Governance and Supervision in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” and “Social Security Is a Major Issue Concerning National Governance and Stability.”
On the afternoon of December 15th, 16 parallel sub-forums were held, including “Party Building and State Governance,” “National Intelligent Governance,” “Public Policy and National Development,” “Finance, Taxation and National Governance,” “Social Work and Social Governance,” “Urban Renewal Governance,” “Digital Economy and Management Innovation,” “People’s Livelihood Security Governance,” “Education and Training for Discipline Inspection and Supervision Cadres,” “Human Resources and Leadership,” “Ecological Environment and Climate Governance,” “National Economy,” “Modernization of Global Southern Countries,” “International Communication,” “Building a powerful Agricultural Country,” and “Rule of Law Concerning Foreign Affairs.”
