On December 17th, Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, met with Betanzos, Ambassador of Spain to China.

Zhang Donggang said that both China and Spain are countries with a long history and profound cultural heritage. In recent years, Renmin University of China(RUC) has continuously expanded its educational and cultural exchanges with Spain. He expressed the hope that through youth visiting exchanges, social practice, and cooperative research, the cooperation in humanities education between the two countries will be further deepened.

Betanzos said that RUC and Spain have a long-term good cooperative relationship in talent training, subject research, etc. She hopes to further deepen cooperation with RUC and build more platforms based on the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of higher education, scientific and technological innovation, and cultural exchanges.

Later, Betanzos delivered a speech entitled "Spain and China over 50 years: 50 years of Diplomatic Relations; 20 years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" at the Regional Country Forum. Zheng Xinye, Vice President of RUC, attended and delivered a speech. Wang Wen, Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of RUC, presided over the meeting. More than 200 representatives of teachers and students from universities such as RUC, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Communication University of China, as well as government departments and enterprises attended the meeting and interacted with the ambassador.
