On the afternoon of October the 3^rd, to celebrate their academic pride, Renmin University’s various schools of discipline paraded around the track carrying their schools’ flag in the spirit of education and commemoration. Niu Weilin, Executive Vice Chairman of Renmin University and Director of University Sports Activities Committee, gave the ceremony’s opening remarks. Mr. Ung Chang, member of the International Olympic Committee, gave a short speech congratulating Renmin University on their 75^th anniversary. Xiao Tian, Deputy Secretary of the National Athletic Administration and Vice President of Chinese Olympic Committee, spoke fondly about the spirit of the Olympic games. Professor Chen Yulu, President of Renmin University of China, awarded the Chinese National Diving Team members for their outstanding gold medal performances in the London Olympic Games. Prof. Cheng Tianquan, Chairman of the University Council, announced the official opening of the Sports and Cultural Festival. Renmin University of China’s national defense students put on an impressive military boxing performance that left the audience in awe. Renmin University of China’s incoming class of 2012 put on Tai Kwan Doe and Tai Qi performances, both showed talent in the form of strength, dedication and synchronization. Finally, the different schools participated in a tug of war competition that was hard fought and evenly contested; the School of Business won the gold medal.
