RUC Leaders Observe Classroom Teaching on First Day of New Semester

On the first teaching day of the new semester, Zhang Donggang, Chair of the University Council, and President Lin Shangli visited undergraduate and graduate classrooms to observe teaching activities and engage with faculty and students. Vice President Feng Shizheng accompanied the visit.  


 

 

Chair Zhang Donggang’s Classroom Visits

 

At the Mingde Building, Chair Zhang visited five classes across disciplines, including "Special Topics in Modern Japanese Literature" by Professor Dai Huan (School of Foreign Languages), "Econometrics A" by Professor Wang Xia (School of Economics), "Mathematical Statistics" by Professor Lü Xiaoling (School of Statistics), "Politics and Society in South Asia" by Professor Cao Dejun (School of International Relations), and "Financial Derivatives" by Professor Li Chenxu (Business School). He interacted warmly with instructors and students, gaining insights into classroom dynamics and extending New Year greetings.  

 

Chair Zhang commended the robust teaching atmosphere at the start of the semester, stressing that talent cultivation remains the core of education. He urged the university to align with evolving technological and industrial trends, refine talent development mechanisms, and nurture innovative professionals to meet societal needs. Encouraging students to embrace their academic journey, he called on them to integrate personal growth into the nation’s modernization goals and contribute youth-driven energy to China’s development.  

 

 

 

President Lin Shangli’s Classroom Visits  

 

At the Lide Building, President Lin observed five courses: "Artificial Intelligence and Python Programming" by Professor Zhao Xin (Gaoling School of Artificial Intelligence), "Advanced English Writing" by Professor Bai Song (School of Foreign Languages), "Data Governance" by Professor Liu Yuenan (School of Information Resource Management), "The World of Life and Cultural Traditions in Dream of the Red Chamber" by Professor Wu Zhen (School of Liberal Arts), and "Environment and Society" by Professor Zhang Lei (School of Ecology and Environment). He discussed teaching plans with faculty and students, wishing them a prosperous new year.  

 

President Lin encouraged students to stay tuned to academic advancements, cultivate both expertise and character, and strive to become well-rounded pioneers in the nation’s rejuvenation. He emphasized diligence, innovation, and perseverance as keys to excelling in an era of global competition.
